* SERVICE TO HUMANITY IS SERVICE TO GOD
Service to Humanity is Service to God |
Service to humanity means attempt to help the needy, the handicapped the weaks, and the desperates. This quality distinguishes a man from brute Animals live themself. They are always concerned with their needs, their urgings and their requirements, his comforts and his benefits is not better than an animal.
The holy book instruct us repeatedly to serve humanity. Our Holy Prophet(S.A.W.W) has not only instructed us verbally but has shown us practically the importance of serving humanity. His holy life is full of such incidents where he had sacrificed his comforts, his needs and his benefits to give comforts to others, to satisfy their needs and bring a little joy to them.
We should not think that to serve humanity is a sacrifice on our part. We are indebted to the society for what we receive from it and it is our duty to repay the debt back. We can repay it back only through social service. Social service is not only the act of kindness but it is a social obligation, a religious duty and repayments of debt. Opportunity for social service to do good to others are ample. It needs only realization of our duty and a will to perform it.
Examples to social and humanitarian service are abundant for our guidance. Our holy Prophet and his holy companions have set examples of service to humanity. Hazrat Abu Bakar(R.A), Hazrat Umar(R.A), Hazrat Usman(R.A) and Hazrat Ali(R.A) used to help the needy, the weak and handicapped persons to feed them, to milk for them and do other service. Hazrat Usman(R.A) gave his corn to hungry people. Hazrat Fatima(R.A) gave all the breads she had to a hungry person for three continuous day and she, her sons and her husband Hazrat Ali(R.A) had to keep fast for three days continuously without food.
Service to humanity is self-rewarding. Apart from the rewards it would bring after death it would brings reward during one's life. It elevates mind, heart and spirit. It brings spiritual satisfaction. It trains one to rise above one's pretty self and to cry out the commandments of God. No happiness is so profound as the happiness one gets through service to humanity.
